Ratherboard versus Ratherboard ECO:
In the pictures above you can see prototypes of the two different versions of Ratherboard. The one with the white sticker is a Ratherboard ECO, which means that from the red side of this one the GPS module is omitted. The inspiration behind this version was environment-friendliness. In many cases, these devices will be mounted on a fix location where location tracking has no purpose. By omitting the GPS module we can lower the production costs, and the price of the device as well. It is good for the environment, and good for the user, everyone wins! The “original” Ratherboard has a purple sticker, and contains the GPS module.
This small difference aside the two products are completely identical in every other aspect, as you can see in the pictures.
The last photo shows the Dark side of the two RB’s and the E1, E2, and E3 extension boards, where you can plainly see the different parts of the board: the power supply protection components, the switching power supplies, the light-sensor (tamper), the current-limited outputs, the I/O protection components, I/O optocouplers, the 8-channel ADC, and the two 1-channel DAC-s.
